More great election news! A French Bulldog named Wilbur was elected the mayor of Rabbit Hash, Kentucky. The town elects a “mayor” annually as part of its election cycle to add a little fun to the election cycle.

Rabbit Hash uses the tradition to raise money for the Rabbit Hash historical society. The contest isn’t a certified election. Wilbur brought in $6,170 for the society! Wilbur beat out the former Mayor Brynneth Pawltrow, a rescued pit bull.

After the election, Wilbur posted a thank you to his constituents. “Mayor Wilbur here! I got to meet so many lovely people in the last 24 hours..and I can’t wait to meet so many more,” the post read. “I am humbled and beyond thankful for all of the support from far away and right here at home.”

Jeb Bush also shared the news of Wilbur’s win alongside his opinion, “Our democracy is strong!” Wilbur is the fifth dog to be the “mayor” of Rabbit Hash. Amy Noland, Wilbur’s owner, told Fox 19 NOW that she thought he would “have a great chance at helping the town preserve what they wanted and still get tourists to come and see this magical place.”
