Kelly Ripa and her husband Mark Conseulos have a new family member! The “Live with Kelly and Ryan” star announced they were adopting a dog that was first featured on her show!

Lena, a Maltese/ Shih Tzu mix, will join their other rescue dog, Chewie. “The Consuelos’ have made a decision to adopt Lena,” she told co-host Ryan Seacrest, “My whole fear was that I didn’t want Chewie to feel replaced in any way.”

She decided it would be ok when she saw a sweet moment, “Chewie was outside the [Lena’s] crate, sitting next to her with their noses together.” The name Lena was shortened from Angelina.

Ripa’s kids wanted a different name. “My kids want her to be named Leia, as in Princess Leia, because we have Chewie,” Ripa shared on the show, hinting at a Star Wars name. “I don’t know. I need guidance.”
