It’s horrible to hear about animal abuse cases or read the ways humans are endangering many species. Fortunately, there are things we can do to speak for them. One of the ways we can help and lend our voices to good causes is by signing petitions. Such petitions are sent to people in powerful positions that can make a change, especially when they see just how many people stand behind the cause. We can demand change, justice, and stop tragedies by speaking up and doing our part.
There are horrifying things happening around the world every week like extinction, hunting, exploitation, and cruelty. If you are looking for a way to help animals, here are 10 petitions you should sign this week, including asking Expedia, the world’s largest travel company, to cut ties with captive animal attractions and urging places with captive animals to save them from the California wildfires!
We want to thank you for being the change you wish to see in the world and giving a voice to the voiceless.
1. Stop The Import of Two African Elephants Destined for Pakistan
Recently, Zimbabwe made the cruel decision to export over 30 African elephants taken from the wild before a new CITES ban went into effect. Two of these elephants are destined to be sent to Lahore Zoo in Pakistan. Currently, there are five elephants held captive in Pakistan who are living in terrible conditions and many animals have died at the zoo. The elephants should not be sent to Pakistan only to live in terrible conditions. They should be sent to a sanctuary. Sign this petition to prevent the import of any elephants to Pakistan!
2. Bella’s Bill Could Toughen New York’s Weak Animal Cruelty Laws
In 2016, a puppy named Bella suffered a horrific death at the hands of the “family man” who adopted her. He tried to suffocate her with a zip tie and when he failed, he put her in a plastic bag and beat her head with a shovel. He pleaded guilty to a felony charge of aggravated cruelty to animals and only served four months in jail. Sign this petition urging New York lawmakers to enact tougher animal cruelty laws.
3. Help The Abused Elephant at The Bellanwila Temple in Sri Lanka
At the Bellanwila Buddhist temple, an elephant named Myan Kumaraya is suffering abuse as if a life in captivity isn’t terrible enough for a wild elephant. He lives chained to a tree and a video surfaced earlier this year of him being bathed in dirty water and being beaten by his mahout (trainer). Sign this petition to ask the government of Sri Lanka to save Myan Kumaraya and send him to a sanctuary where he can live in peace and free from abuse.
4. Ask the Korean Government to Ban Animal Testing!
Almost four million animals were used in Korean laboratories for animal testing and research, including dogs, rabbits, monkeys, and more. One-third of the animals used were subject to chemical poisoning. Please take a stand and sign the petition and ask the Korean government to enforce Cosmetics Act Reform Bill (CARB) and to revise current testing standards to make non animal testing methods compulsory.
5. Ask Expedia to Cut Ties With Companies That Abuse Animals
Travel platforms like TripAdvisor and Booking.com have been cutting ties with attractions that feature captive animals where animals are exploited and abused. What tourists don’t see is that their money is actually fueling exploitation and abuse, even at many places that claim to be sanctuaries. Expedia is one of the world’s largest travel companies and they still promote zoos and marine parks. Sign this petition to demand that Expedia stop selling tickets to cruel animal attractions.
6. Call for a Dog Meat Free Indonesia!
Join Dog Meat Free Indonesia in calling on the Indonesian government to ban the trade in and slaughtering of dogs, and consumption of dog meat throughout Indonesia. As they describe it: “Every year, millions of dogs are brutally transported throughout Indonesia to supply the demand for dog meat. Many are stolen family pets and illegally trafficked dogs. They are crammed into cages and sacks so tightly that they can barely move, their mouths bound shut so they can hardly breathe. They are taken on long journeys to supply markets, slaughterhouses and restaurants. They watch others being brutally killed in filthy slaughterhouses whilst they wait their turn.” Sign this petition to urge the president of Indonesia to ban the cruel dog meat trade.
7. Urge Malibu Wine Safaris to Save Their Exotic Captive Animals from the California Fires
Despite the wildfires blazing in California, Malibu Wine Safaris (who has captive exotic animals who belong in the wild) did not evacuate the animals to safety. The Woolsey fire in Malibu destroyed a considerable portion of their barns and facilities and they said a small number of animals is missing. Sign this petition to urge the owner of Malibu Wine Safaris to send the surviving exotic animals to a sanctuary to save them from the raging fires!
8. Ban Blowtorch Use on Animals in China!

As part of the Yulin Dog Meat Feastival and throughout Asia’s Dog/Cat Meat Trade, public blowtorch demonstrations are common. The dog meat industry is cruel enough. Using blowtorches on innocent, helpless animals is especially horrific. Ideally, there would be an end to the entire dog meat trade, but banning these cruel killing methods could be a step in the right direction. Sign this petition to demand a ban on the use of blowtorches on animals in China.
9. Justice for Cat Tortured on Camera
A 22-year-old man was seen on surveillance video picking up the cat and violently throwing it into an apartment pool. repeatedly hit the cat in the head with a shoe and his hands as the cat tried to get out of the pool. He was later seen holding the cat under water. He was seen carrying the cat away from the pool either dead or unconscious. The man is currently out on bond, but such cruelty cannot go unpunished. Sometimes animal cruelty cases are not treated with the seriousness they should be. Someone capable of doing that to an innocent, helpless animal is a danger to society. Sign this petition to ensure justice is served for the poor cat.
10. Tell Chipotle to be Honest About the Cruelty Behind Their “Humane” Meat Labels
A former Chipotle manager visited a Chipotle-supplying chicken farm, and found nothing but cruelty. Chipotle labels their meat as being “humanely” sourced, but what the former manager found was “Tens of thousands of chickens crowded together in filthy industrial sheds. Mutilated birds desperately holding on to their sad and painful lives. Dead birds left to rot beside living ones.” Sign this petition to demand that Chipotle stop lying to the public and warn them about the way animals are suffering to produce the products they sell.
