Annie’s story is absolutely devastating. It’s the story of a small 23 pound dog fighting for her life despite everything she’s gone through. On April 27th, Pawsitive Restorations Animal Rescue were alerted that a dog was found laying in a driveway pregnant, in distress, and barely responsive. When they arrived to help, there was a premature puppy hanging halfway out of her body. She was in the middle of a late term miscarriage because of the severe health condition she was in.
She was emaciated and her body was ridden with bacteria and infection so much that she was vomiting maggots. While rescuers attempted to rescue her, the owner came and spit on Annie and said “She ain’t worth it,” but allowed the rescuers to take her away. It’s just absolutely devastating to think that someone can look at a suffering animal and think this way and say those things.
Annie was rushed to an animal hospital. She was severely anemic and severely dehydrated. They had to perform an emergency C-section. None of her puppies made it. Some were stillborn, some died within hours, and some died within a week.
Annie slowly was making progress and Pawsitive Restorations says that “Despite the extreme pain and horrific physical condition she was in, she greeted me with a wagging tail, and soft warm kisses.” However, suddenly, Annie’s condition worsened again. She started bleeding heavily from her vagina and passing large blood clots. She has a rare canine condition, similar to internal varicose veins in her vagina.
At this point, Annie’s prognosis is unknown. It’s not clear how long she’ll make it or how much more pain her body can take. But Pawsitive Restorations keeps fighting for her because she keeps fighting. Her sheer will to live is amazing. Her medical costs have reached almost $15,000. But you can help by donating to Pawsitive Restorations. Annie deserves all the love, care, and treatment they are making sure she receives.
Thankfully, law enforcement is involved and you can follow the Facebook group dedicated to her journey at Justice for Mama Annie.
