To celebrate World Chimpanzee Day on the 14th of July, the largest privately funded chimpanzee sanctuary, Save the Chimps, is selling paintings created by chimpanzees as NFTs. The collection of paintings, named Primal Expressions, were painted by Cheetah, Clay, and Tootie, three rescue chimpanzees at the sanctuary.

The primate-painted art will be the first NFTs made by chimpanzees ever. All proceeds will support Save the Chimps, which provides care and refuge to chimpanzees at their sanctuary in Fort Pierce, Florida.
The three chimps didn’t just paint the masterpieces going on sale, they are actively passionate painters. Save the Chimps offers several enrichment activities, and Cheetah, Clay, and Tootie consistently and independently choose to paint.

“Among the many activities the chimps have access to, painting is particularly popular for these three chimps, who regularly choose to create colorful, expressive paintings,” explains Save the Chimps CEO Ana Paula Tavares.

The works going on sale are considered some of their best pieces this year.
You can place a bid for the paintings on Trusey on the 14th of July for one week. Trusey is an NFT marketplace for art, music, fashion, philanthropy and sports. Save the Chimps will also be auctioning off a special VIP package that includes an exclusive tour of the Save the Chimps sanctuary. This is a big deal, because the sanctuary is normally completely closed to the public and relies on donations to help provide the chimpanzees the great care they deserve.

Nutritious meals, veterinary care, enrichment, and companionship are all provided to the chimpanzees by Save the Chimps. Proceeds from the NFTs will fund this exceptional care.
