The coronavirus pandemic has led to shutdowns across the world. This means that most people are staying indoors, safe at home to prevent spreading the virus. Businesses are closed down and there can be no mass gatherings. This should help in terms of containing the spread and flattening the curve, but it affects animal shelters and rescue centers pretty badly. Adoption events have to be cancelled and volunteers aren’t really able to come in and help as they usually would.
Shelters, therefore, have been asking people to please consider fostering or adopting during this time. It not only helps the animals and the shelters, but it can reduce stress levels and bring happiness and companionship. One non-profit is even covering the costs for anyone who fosters a senior dog during this time.
Busch Beer has decided to also give people some incentive to foster or adopt. They made the announcement on Instagram: “Everyone could use a companion for the couch right now. So if you foster (or adopt) a dog from Midwest Animal Rescue, we’ll give you 3 months’ worth of Busch to enjoy by their side.”

They partnered with Midwest Animal Rescue for the campaign. A spokesperson for Busch told People Magazine: “During these uncertain and lonelier times, people need an escape: cue the cute puppy memes and photos. But as much as we need those cute puppy pics to help get us through social distancing, it’s actually them who need us. Social distancing is better with a furry friend by your side and a cold beer in your hand.”
If you’d like some more inspiration to foster or adopt, these celebrities have also fostered and adopted during these scary times and aren’t regretting it:

If you aren’t able to foster or adopt, you can also Donate to your local shelter. Sign this petition pledging to help animal shelters during these difficult times.
