Billie Eilish looked stunning at the Met Gala in an old Hollywood-inspired Oscar de la Renta gown. The 19-year-old celebrity wore the dress on one condition: that the brand would agree to stop selling fur.
The young celebrity is a proud vegan and often uses her platform to spread the word about animal rights. On her Instagram, she said that it was “an honor to wear this dress knowing that going forward Oscar de la Renta will be completely fur-free.”
The star went on to thank the designers and the brand for taking her concerns seriously and making “a change that makes an impact for the greater good, not only for animals but also for our planet and environment too.” She urged all other designers to follow suit by ditching fur too.

Alex Bolen, chief executive of Oscar de la Renta, said, “I thought a lot about what Oscar said. He was a big fan of fur, by the way. That the one thing he really worried about in the fashion business was his eye getting old.” Going on to talk about his love of surrounding himself with people of different opinions.
One Green Planet Founder, Preeta Sinha, commended Eilish, stating, “She quietly used her influence to make a change within the old guard. She didn’t wear a sign. She wore something that outwardly might seem traditional, but in reality, made a real change.”
Billie Eilish is just one of the many celebrities who have really begun to put their platform to good use spreading awareness through the brands that they Support and using their fame to create change.

Taking the lives of animals for “fashion” is morally unacceptable. Not because of the environment, but because animals’ lives matter TO THEM.
