The Barn Sanctuary, located in Michigan, will get its own Animal Planet show in Spring 2020. The Barn Sanctuary is a place for rescuing and rehabilitating animal refugees. The sanctuary also makes it its mission to spread compassion.

Dan McKernan is the founder of Barn Sanctuary. He said of the show, “All of us at Barn Sanctuary are thrilled to open our barn doors to Animal Planet’s millions of viewers. This show will give farmed animals the chance to be seen in a different light as we rescue, rehabilitate, and provide a loving home to abused and neglected farmed animals.”

Executive Director Kelly Holt echoed McKernan saying, “There is an enormous and rare opportunity to show the world who these incredible animals are, and we’re touched by the outpouring of excitement for this show. The lifesaving work we do at Barn Sanctuary will undoubtedly capture the hearts of millions, and we’re grateful to Animal Planet for the opportunity.”

McKernan founded the sanctuary on his family’s farm to provide a rescue for barnyard animals. McKernan had no experience except a love of animals and devotion to animal welfare.

The show will feature 12, 1-hour long episodes that feature the day to day of the Barn Sanctuary while highlighting rescue animals, medical stories and the 12-person Barn Sanctuary team. Tune in to watch the Barnyard Sanctuary at work and at play.
