Before a hurricane hit Cozumel, Mexico, this woman made a trip to the corner store to grab some last-minute supplies. She heard some sounds coming from a cardboard box. To her surprise, she found a baby chick all alone in the box in the middle of the store!
“I just thought I can’t leave this baby alone all night during a hurricane,” said the turkey’s rescuer.

The corner store was at risk of flooding and losing electricity for a few days, so this woman bought the baby chick for $7 and took him home.
“We spent that first evening cuddling on my sofa while the hurricane raged around us. And from that night, we were just so bonded,” said the turkey’s rescuer.
Uri and his rescuer now spend every day together going to the beach, going for drives on motorcycles, listening to music, and jumping on the trampoline. Uri has grown so much and is flourishing in his new home.
“He’s one of my biggest teachers in life. Never in my life did I imagine that I would have a big turkey as a companion. And now I can’t imagine my life without him,” said the turkey’s rescuer.
