After spending 24 long years in a Ukrainian circus, Masha and Lora, sister bears, were finally set free! These sisters were victims of the circus industry for the majority of their lives. They were split up into two separate cages right next to each other and were so close that they could smell and hear one another but were not able to interact with each other.

“They don’t know what is a tree. They don’t know what is a bird. They don’t know what is wildlife,” said World Animal Protection USA.

While in captivity, the bears were forced to perform in the circus while muzzled, riding motorbikes, and sliding down poles. They weren’t even allowed to comfort each other during these challenging times.

Now, for the first time in many years, these beautiful bears will have access to wide, open space and feel the grass beneath their paws. They will be able to explore the environment that they were deprived of for so long and will get to express their natural behaviors. And most important of all, they will be reunited and free to play together again.

“We are so thrilled that laeoukraine and SOS Zoo and Bear Rescue were able to free these bears and bring them to our partners at Libearty – Bear Sanctuary. Now they’ll finally have the life they deserve,” said World Animal Protection.

Wild animals do not belong in circuses. Cruel circus practices include beatings, harsh training methods, and performance requirements. These animals spend their lives in small cages. Due to these harsh conditions, these animals suffer shorter lifespans and mental disabilities. Circuses should be illegal!
