An equestrian trainer has been charged with animal cruelty after a view surfaced of her dragging a horse and appearing to make him bleed.

Two clips were shared on Facebook last week, with one showing the woman pulling a horse in a moving vehicle while they were on an isolated road, TMZ reported. In the video, it suns as if the woman, Solstice Pecile, is yelling at the horse while fiercely yanking the animal by its muzzle.

In the other video, the hose seems to be bleeding from his hooves. The woman reportedly appeared to have the horse’s blood on her hands, and she can be heard calling the helpless animal the R-word while seemingly chastising him.

“Awesome. Fantastic,” Pecile said in the video. “Why are you a r*****? Hmm? Why? Why? Why?”

The Northumberland Ontario Provincial Police opened an investigation after the videos surfaced online and a spokesperson for the Ministry of the Solicitor General has announced that the woman was charged with causing distress to an animal.

TMZ reported that if it is treated as a minor offense, and assuming it’s her first offense, Pecile faces a $75k fine and potentially 6 months in jail. If treated as a major offense, she could face up to $130k in fines and up to two years in prison.

Animal abuse is more prevalent than many may think. According to PetPedia, every 60 seconds, an animal suffers from abuse, with more than 65 percent being dogs. More than 10 million animals die from abuse every year in the US alone, not including the livestock bred for consumption, who also suffer immense abuse.
