A video posted by @gabitabel3 recently went viral on TikTok of a dog at Planet Fitness working out on one of the treadmills. The black dog was strolling on the treadmill, and the time of the workout was nearing a whole hour long. The dog seemed to be enjoying the treadmill, and the video has racked up over 1.4 million views.

“The dog turned around like “ 👀oh here’s another person recording me while I work out ..”🤣” one user commented.

“People who think an hour dog walk is long clearly don’t own a dog lmfao” another user added.

Dogs can walk on treadmills, and in fact, walking on a treadmill can be a great form of exercise for dogs, especially during inclement weather or for dogs that live in apartments or homes without a yard. Here are some tips to keep in mind if you want to train your dog to walk on a treadmill:

  1. Introduce your dog to the treadmill slowly: It is important to introduce your dog to the treadmill slowly and in a positive manner. Start by turning on the treadmill and allowing your dog to investigate it while it is turned off. Then, slowly turn the treadmill on and let your dog get used to the movement.
  2. Use positive reinforcement: Use treats and praise to encourage your dog to walk on the treadmill. Start with short sessions and gradually increase the duration and intensity of the workout.
  3. Use a harness: It is important to use a harness to secure your dog to the treadmill to prevent them from falling off or getting injured.
  4. Supervise your dog: Always supervise your dog while they are walking on the treadmill to ensure their safety.
  5. Gradually increase the intensity: Just like with any exercise, it is important to gradually increase the intensity of the workout over time to prevent injury and allow your dog to build endurance.

Walking on a treadmill can be a great form of exercise for dogs, but just remember to introduce them to it slowly and in a positive manner and to always supervise them while they are using the treadmill.
