This poor small dog was found on the street on the brink of death, and when rescuers picked her up, she could not regain consciousness. They checked for fractures, but they could not find any.
“Her neurological response was poor,” the text overlay said on the TikTok video.
They were extremely worried that the puppy would not make it. They cleaned a small wound that she had and gave her nourishment and fluids with an IV drip.
On day three of her rescue, she tried to eat but could barely swallow. Then, on day 6, she could finally eat. Slowly but surely, she regained her strength, all thanks to her rescuers. Throughout her recovery, she loved to snuggle with her rescuers, almost as a way to say thank you for saving her off of the streets. Finally, at six weeks, she was strong enough to take her first steps. Although she couldn’t take many, she was finally over the hump of her recovery.
The dog, now named Sona, is still wobbly, but she’s stronger than ever and getting better every day! She now has foster parents and even some foster siblings that she gets to play with. Her favorite thing to do is to get some love from her foster parents.
According to national estimates, approximately 6.3 million companion animals are abandoned and enter U.S. animal shelters nationwide every year. In the U.S. alone over 5.4 million cats are killed on the side of the road. If you happen to notice a cat on the side of the road, whether or not the animal is injured, safely put on the hazard lights and pull your car completely off the road before attempting to rescue them, says the Humane Society.
