Meet Miriam! She was saved about to be loaded up and taken to a slaughterhouse, but decided to change her fate!

Animal sellers had been running a meat CSA and weren’t able to load her up for slaughter. Miriam knew she was in danger and saved her own life.

When Miriam first arrived at the sanctuary, they made two important promises to her. They promised to give her warm shelter since she had been sleeping in the woods for four years all alone and exposed to the elements, and they would find her a friend. Luckily, both of these promises came true already! Miriam is loving her new home and has a best friend named Penelope at the sanctuary to spend time with.

“We are filled to the brim with happiness for these two. Both born into animal agriculture and both now safe in the sanctuary for their entire natural lives, together and with so many other animal friends and humans who love them,” the rescue said.

This is a very happy story for Miriam, as so many other cows meant for the slaughter are not so lucky. Her brave escape shows just how much these creatures want to live and how cruel it is to raise them just for meat. Miriam is now surrounded by animals and humans who love her like crazy!

“When we moved the sanctuary to this property nine months ago and took in Miriam with it, she was all alone. Cows are herd animals, and just like every other species we care for, it’s important for there to be more than one of them. Everyone needs a friend who speaks their language!” said the rescue.

It’s amazing to see animals learn to love and trust again after all that the meat industry has put them through. Miriam now gets to live a full natural life, forming friendships, playing, relaxing, and being treated the way that all sentient beings deserve.
