Every year, people gather together to watch the Super Bowl. It could be a fun event full of snacks, drinks, and community, but it’s also a catalyst to insurmountable suffering, pain, and death – all thanks to the popularity of chicken wings as an appetizer.

According to the predictions from The National Chicken Council (a lobbying group that represents major poultry players in the U.S.), Americans will consume an estimated 1.42 billion chicken wings for the 2022 Super Bowl.

The NCC bragged about the insane consumption of chicken wings over football, noting that consumption of wings is up and the number of wings to be consumed for the Super Bowl alone could “circle the circumference of the Earth 3 times.” It may good news for the bottom line of the corrupt chicken industry, but that’s where the good news ends.

One chicken only has two wings, which means an estimated 710 million chickens will suffer and die in the name of Super Bowl snacks, per World Animal Protection. It’s appalling.

Not only is “Big Chicken” horrible to the chickens, causing sentient beings to spend their short lives in pain and misery, but it’s also terrible for the planet. Thankfully, it’s not that hard to make a massive difference by choosing plant-based options instead of animals.
