Simple Bechamel Sauce [Vegan]
2 cups (4, 1/2 cup servings)
- Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add flour and whisk until thickened and bubbling, but not browned (approximately 2 minutes).
- Pour warm milk in the pan and continue to whisk until sauce is thickened (approximately 3 minutes).
- Add salt, pepper and nutmeg to the pan and stir to combine.
- Use immediately or if making ahead of time, place wax paper over the sauce until ready to use.
