Ingredients

For the Black Bean Burgers:

  • 5 tablespoons of chia seeds with 3 tablespoons of water
  • 2 cans of black beans, drained but not washed
  • 1/2 cup and 1 tablespoon of gluten-free bread crumbs
  • 1 teaspoon of garlic granules
  • 1 white onion, minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon of chili flakes
  • Pinch of salt and pepper
  • 2 tablespoons of oil, for shallow frying

For the Burger Sauce:

  • 3/4 cup and 1 tablespoon vegan mayonnaise
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons of mustard
  • 3 tablespoons of hot sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon of garlic granules
  • Pinch of salt and pepper

Preparation

To Make the Burgers:

  1. Place the chia and water into a bowl, stir and leave to thicken/jellify. This creates a vegan egg.
  2. Place the black beans into a bowl and mash.
  3. Add in the breadcrumbs, garlic granules, minced onion, chili flakes, salt, and pepper and mix until combined.
  4. Form the mixture into burgers.
  5. Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a pan
  6. Add in the burgers and cook for around 4-5 minutes on each side until golden in color.

To Make the Sauce:

  1. Place all of the ingredients into a blender and whizz up until combined.

I assume you add it to the mix? And it was too thick too, maybe 3 T of chia and 5T water is better? but as always every recipe I have tried here on this app has some mistake or missing step, always something wrong, drives me crazy.

I guess you fry it and put it on top of the burger, just under the lettuce and tomato...?
