It probably doesn’t get much more Mediterranean than this. Olives and artichokes were meant to be together but what really binds them is a good olive oil and a good spice mixture. Specifically, the za’atar which is made with thyme, sumac, and sesame seeds to name a few of its flavors. This savory spread is great to have ready in the kitchen so you can spread them onto your toast, or just plain bury your face in them.


Artichoke Olive Tapenade With Za’Atar [Vegan]


  • 1 cup kalamata olives
  • 3/4 cup marinated artichokes
  • 1/4 cup chopped parsley
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 2 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon fresh dill
  • 1 tablespoon za'atar
  • Black pepper, as needed


  1. Put all the ingredients in a food processor, blend, and serve.


Makes 1 1/2 cups.
