Vegan Flatbreads are the New Pizza


We get it: summer is over, autumn is full swing, and suddenly it feels like you’re too busy to partake in all of your most relaxing rituals and habits. For people who love to bake, kneading and shaping dough can be a soothing activity (one that results in delicious, homemade bread) — but honestly, making and then baking bread can take a lot of time. Sometimes, you literally just don’t have the minutes or hours to while away waiting for your bread to rise. So what’s a carb-loving fiend to do? Make flatbreads, of course!

Flatbread has been on the up and up lately. While different varieties of flatbreads (such as injera, pita, and more) have been around for centuries, mainstream chains have started recognizing flatbreads for their versatility. They’re quicker to make than traditional, pillowy bread, because you don’t need to give them time to rise, and they work in all different kinds of recipes.

We cannot drop drooling over this recipe for Chickpea Flatbreads With Garlicky Tahini Sauce by Christine DesRoches! This is an easy, adaptable flatbread base called socca, made from chickpea flour. It tastes delicious with a variety of toppings, but here we used olives, chickpeas, and some crunchy vegetables plus a garlicky tahini sauce and a sprinkle of sumac for a perfect gluten-free party food or light dinner.

Satisfy Your Sweet Tooth:

This Sweet Strawberry Flatbread by Amber St. Peter is an inventive and fresh dessert. Top this flatbread with a dozen or so super sweet strawberries for an irresistible dish. And it’s so easy to prepare — it’ll seem like you worked way harder on this one than you’ll actually have to.

Skip the Cocktail:

This Martini Flatbread recipe by Emilie Heck is blowing our minds! This delicious flatbread starts with a buttery sauce made with olive brine, gin, and garlic. Then, it’s topped with kalamata and green olives, sautéed pearl onions, and a garnish of fresh parsley.
