These days, one in every ten Millennial identifies as vegan, and stats show that an entire 36 percent of this age group are actively seeking out plant-based meats. With the amount of delicious, protein-filled plant-based sandwiches and burgers out there, it’s easier than ever to visit a restaurant and order a plant-meat meal that satisfies your taste buds.
That’s why it’s so cool that Superiority Burger, a 100 percent vegetarian burger chain with many vegan menu items, was named one of The Times’s top six places to visit for cheap, delicious eats in New York.
“A hotbed of cheap eats, this teeny burger shop whips up scrummy vegetarian and vegan burgers that are as good as the real thing,” The Times wrote about Superiority Burger.
Along with its constantly changing list of daily salad specials, the fixed menu items on Superiority Burger’s lineup include their Megamouth (which the shop describes by saying: “It’s not a bigger burger, it’s a huger sandwich”), their Superiority Wrap/Boat (with Koda Farm’s organic brown rice, tofu, cabbage, and a sunflower crunch), and their Sloppy Dave (with frizzled onions). Burgers typically run for between $6-$9.
The Times isn’t the first news source to pick up on how magical Superiority Burger’s fare actually is; in 2015, it’s classic $6 veggie burger was actually dubbed the best in the world by GQ.
“The bun squishes. The lettuce crunches. The pickles snap. That patty, made from ingredients Headley won’t divulge and miles beyond whatever your vegan friends use to assault your grill during barbecues, has genuine heft,” GQ wrote.
Superiority Burger isn’t the only place serving up plant-based burgers that all can enjoy. The Beyond Burger is showing up in ivy-league cafeterias and movie theaters nationwide. Truly the options for an amazing veggie burger are limitless.
“There’s was a time when people thought vegan food was unaffordable and unavailable,” One Green Planet Co-Founder Preeta Sinha says. “We’ve come a long way!”
