While we enjoy consuming cinnamon-flavored treats every day of the year, our cravings for the warming spice peak in the fall.
Did you know that the aroma of cinnamon can actually enhance your focus and ability to remember things? Cinnamon also helps reduce blood sugar levels, cholesterol, and inhibits the growth of cancer cells, and boasts an impressive amount calcium, iron, manganese, and fiber.
Obviously, we try to get as much cinnamon into our diets as possible. Sometimes, we do it the “healthy” way. And sometimes we indulge.
When we first learned about the California-based vegan shop, Cinnaholic, it was love at first sight. Not only does the chain offer a medley of vegan frosting flavors for their customizable plant-based cinnamon rolls, but they also offer toppings for their customers to enjoy, like blueberries, vegan cookie dough, graham crackers, and more.
Now our neighbors up north can experience the glory of Cinnaholic vegan cinnamon buns because Florian and Shannon Radke, Cinnaholic’s founders, announced that they’re planning on opening 70 brand new locations in Canada.
Cinnamon roll fans in Edmonton will get first dibs, as the primary location is slated to debut in Edmonton in January 2018, but folks in Toronto, Regina, and Winnipeg will have their chance soon after.
“I am so excited to see our vegan cinnamon roll concept expand to Canada,” Shannon Radke told Veg News. “Cinnaholic has experienced a massive growth over the past few years, and expanding into new territories shows that vegan companies are getting more and more traction. There’s no denying veganism is on the rise.”
We agree. Congratulations, Cinnaholic — now please come to New York!
Make Your Own Cinnamon-Spiced Treats
You love cinnamon cookies and cinnamon buns, but did you know you can have both in the same dessert? Aw yeah. These Glazed Cinnamon Bun Cookies by Aileen Metcalf will have your entire kitchen smelling like an autumnal bakery while they’re in the oven. Without the glaze, they’re crunchy, and with the glaze, they’re delightfully chewy. Either way, they’re delicious!
These Cinnamon Apple Dessert Tacos by Gabrielle St. Claire are the kind of indulgent treat you’d encounter at the world’s greatest food festival … Except you can make these at home and the only line you’ll be waiting on is the one at the grocery store. They have a crispy fried tortilla shell that sparkles from the cinnamon sugar coating, a warm apple pie filling, and a topping of coconut whipped cream dusted with cinnamon that you should absolutely go overboard on. Crunchy, sweet, warm, and indulgent, this dessert is absolutely unforgettable.
Like cinnamon? Then you’re not going to want to wait for a second longer to start making these plant-based cinnamon recipes.
