Following the successful opening of their two-story vegan pizzeria in Portland, Oregon, the owners of Vancouver-based restaurant Virtuous Pie have announced their intention of opening two additional locations by the end of 2017.
Reported by VegNews, the first location will be in Vancouver’s Westbrook Village neighborhood, close to the University of British Columbia (UBC). The 2,000-square foot shop, which is set to open this fall, will feature a 40-seat patio and, if the hours for their original location are any indication, will also have (relatively) late night hours to feed the college crowd.
The second location, set to open in Toronto later this year, will be another two-story location with a 166 seating capacity. That’s right — the world will have another two-story vegan pizzeria. “It has always been our goal to expand Virtuous Pie,” the company’s Director of Marketing and Business Development Lia Loukas told VegNews. “The fact that we’ve been able to do so relatively quickly is a testament to the delicious food we serve and the great response we’ve had from the public since we first launched.”
Here’s some of what we can probably expect at the pizzeria’s upcoming locations:
Virtuous Pie’s Curry Mile Pizza, pictured below, features “Butter Chickpea Curry, Mint Raita, Roasted Cashews, Mango Chutney, [and] Pea Shoots.”

Then, there’s the Stranger Wings, a Bianca-style pizza topped with “Spicy Buffalo Cauliflower, Crisp Fried Shallots, Blue Cheese Drizzle, [and] Scallions.”
And you can’t go wrong with a classic Margherita pizza. The rising star in the vegan pizza world’s version of this staple menu item is topped with “San Marzano, Cashew Mozzarella, Fresh Basil, [and] Extra Virgin Olive Oil.”
