Inside the Auction House Market food hall in New Orleans is a new vegan dessert shop, specializing in macaroons. Karmacarons was founded in 2016 in Lafayette, Los Angeles. Madisen Gill and Kristina Ostrom are the motivated girl-power founders behind the company. They had a deep desire for high quality, cruelty-free desserts to become more accessible. Thus, they began their journey of mastering the first vegan French macaron.
With plentiful support from friends and family, Karmacarons was born! Karmacarons come in a few delicious and unique flavors such as birthday cake, key lime, cotton candy, toasted coconut, lavender and dark chocolate ganache — definitely offering more flavors than any other macaron establishment. They also have fruit tarts, chocolate-covered berries, and a vegan ‘rolled’ ice cream.
Their mission statement is, “Karmacarons is based on the foundation of producing the highest quality vegan and gluten-free french macarons and meringue-based treats. We are dedicated to using the highest quality local and organic ingredients in our small batch, handcrafted confections, with intentions for individuals of all dietary backgrounds to enjoy, one in the same.”
On Yelp, Rebecca said, “Kristina artfully handcrafts her macarons in a dedicated gluten-free facility with varying flavors rotating through their impressive pastry case daily.”
