Govinda’s has already proven itself a mainstay of vegan cuisine, before being vegan was ‘cool.’ But now, owner Haryasva Dasa is putting his dream of opening a pizza shop into action.
The new pizzeria, which is also kosher, will sell vegan slices, quinoa, vegetable medleys, three-bean chili, sweet yams, pasta salads, and hummus. These hot dishes are tiny and meant to serve as side dishes.
“I wanted to give people something we don’t have next door, where we use so many soy products. As a vegetarian, I sometimes want to go someplace and get food quickly, but I don’t always want a sandwich — so I wanted to offer a quality lunch, quality food cooked nicely,” Dasa told Eater.
It’ll be set up like a counter-service pizza shop, complete with dine-in seats. They’ll have eggplant parmesan pizza, buffalo chicken and plain cheese slices, all vegan!
