5 Entrepreneurial Teenagers Sell Their Vegan Cupcake Mix to Major Grocery Stores!

Cupcake lovers of Aukland, rejoice! A brand new, 100 percent plant-based cupcake mix is about to become available in two major grocery chains, and you have five teenagers to thank for your good fortune.

When five students of ACG Parnell College, Emma Burns, Sylvia Brewer, Emily Grant, Lakisha Patel, and Madison McKillen, were told that they had to set up and run their own business as part of a school program called the Young Enterprises Scheme (YES), they collectively decided they wanted to provide the world with a sweet service — vegan cupcakes for kids!

They came up with their cupcake mix, which is called Let Them Eat Cake (LTEC), because they wanted to provide children who have dietary restrictions, such as egg and dairy allergies, a sweet dessert option they could indulge in without having to worry about any potential adverse side effects.

“Baking with our parents was such a significant and fond memory of our childhood, and we did not want other kids to miss out on this,”LTEC chief executive, Madison McKillen, told Stuff

The best part? Two major grocery chains in Aukland, Farro Fresh and New World, listened to McKillen’s pitch for the product — and both decided to buy the students’ project and sell the vegan cupcake mix at locations throughout the city.

“The students did their research — they developed a product that was unique, appealing and that customers are buying,” New World Stonefields general manager James Fabian told Stuff.

Congratulations, ladies! We wish we could taste the cupcakes here in America, but to celebrate your accomplishment, we’ll celebrate by making some of the vegan cupcakes recipes we found on the Food Monster App in your honor.
