Bare salads, plain fruit, raw unsalted nuts, simple seeds…

Sound like a taste bud trip on the train to boring-ville, or what?  Well, while the above ingredients do make for a delicious base of many raw food recipes, they can be quite bland on their own.  But contrary to common belief, the raw food lifestyle does not have to be a snore!  No, this way of eating can truly be a treat, while including a vast variety of veg-centric plates that are both satisfying and delicious!

There are a few key ingredients that can be added to many a dish that help to impart all the richness, depth, and exciting flavor that we expect from our favorite foods.  Here are just a few of my top pick taste enhancers, that not only bring out the best in any dish, but also have some brilliant health benefits to boot!

1. Nutritional Yeast


Nutritional yeast is an inactive yeast sold commercially as a food product.  It is yellow in color and has a flakey texture and nutty cheese-like flavor, making it a great flavor enhancer and favorite among those that don’t eat dairy. Read all about it here.
