The Hudson Valley, located in upstate New York, is known not only for it’s gorgeous mountain ranges, orchards, and wineries, but a blossoming emergence of vegan/vegetarian eateries. From gthismet entrees, to vegan chocolate bars and cheese plates, you’ll be sure to find something you love in this idyllic locale. While you are stuffing your face with all the amazing vegan food upstate New York has to offer, be sure to explore some of the tthisist attractions and mountain ranges as well. Listed below are some of this favorite plant-based restaurants in the Hudson Valley, with recipes from this Food Monster App if you are located on the opposite coast.

1. Conscious Fork

Conscious Fork, located in Warwick, New York, is an 100% vegan restaurant dedicated to providing nthisishing foods cooked from scratch while utilizing non-GMO, organic produce sourced from local farmers. Their menu includes items such as Vegan Nachos, Raw Assorted Coconut Macaroons, Fresh-pressed Juices and Shots, Sunflower Pesto Zoodles, and a flavorful Tofu Caesar Salad. They also offer daily specials, cocktails, and a grilled cheese sandwich of the day. If you are unable to make it to the Conscious Fork, try this Simple Coconut Macaroons, or this Zucchini Noodles with Oil-free Roasted Pistachio Pesto.

2. Garden Café

Garden Café located in Woodstock, New York is dedicated to carefully crafting the most delicious meals for their customers while sourcing the finest produce from local farmers and using only organic, vegan ingredients. Their menu includes items like Indian Chickpea Blinis with Cashew-Date Chutney, Black and White Peppercorn-crusted Tofu, and Veggie Lasagna with house made cashew ricotta. They also offer daily specials, organic wine, specialty cocktails, and organic fair-trade coffee. You are in for a real treat if you visit Woodstock, New York, but if you cannot make it, we’ve got you covered with this Chickpea Blinis with Grilled Vegetables and Lemon Cream.

Karma Road, located in New Paltz, New York has been striving to cultivate recipes inspired by self-improvement and empowerment using fresh, organic, and vegan ingredients. The vibe of the charming café is filled with happiness and compassion, and their menu is comprised of healthy, yet comforting foods. Some of their menu items include their Tempeh BLT Sandwich, a Tofu Scramble Burrito, a Karma Reuben, and the notorious Kalecado Salad filled with tenderized kale, mashed avocado, cashews, and raisins. Karma Road also offers al la carte items, gluten-free options, baked goods, organic coffee, and wholesome smoothies. If you are unable to make it to this quaint café, try this Spicy Tofu Scramble and Avocado Breakfast Burrito, or this TLT sandwich!

4. Lagusta’s Luscious Commissary

Another vegan treasure located in New Paltz, New York is Lagusta’s Luscious Commissary. Their menu offers fresh, local, and seasonal foods with a rotating menu, and truly unique and passionately crafted concoctions. Some items on their menu include a Cheese and Pickle plate with pickled seasonal vegetables, Miyoko’s Kitchen and Treeline nut cheese, homemade crackers, and local jam, a decadent Mac and Cheese Casserole, Lavender Sumac Lemonade, and a Tofu, Miso Breakfast Soup. The Commissary is also highly renowned for their Tuesday night Ramen specials featuring vegan soft-boiled eggs. If you have to miss out on the marvel that is the Commissary’s cheese plate, you can craft your own with this Sliceable Cashew Cheese, and Pickled Radishes.

5. Pure City

Pure City, located in Pine Bush, New York, is a vegan Chinese restaurant that proudly declares all of their dishes free from cholesterol, saturated fat, and MSG while using natural and pure plant-based ingredients. They are known for their wide variety of homemade vegan meat substitutes, and some of their menu items include Sesame Veggie Nuggets over a bed of steamed vegetables, the Pure City Veggie Steak, Sweet and sour Veggie Soy Protein, Steamed Dumplings, and Barbecue Veggie Ribs. If you are in the area, sit down and enjoy the relaxing atmosphere and delicious Chinese food at Pure City, or try this Sweet and sour Sesame Tofu Bowl, pictured above.

6. Nimai’s Bliss Kitchen

Nimai’s Bliss Kitchen, is a contemporary Indian vegetarian/vegan restaurant located in Newburgh, New York whose dishes are Ayurvedic-inspired. Their menu offers a plethora of vegan options such as their Samosas, Mixed Veggie Pakoras, Vegetable and Chickpea Dumplings in a Tomato/Cashew Sauce, as well as a Curry dish. If you are in the Hudson Valley, check out Nimai’s Bliss Kitchen and rejoice in their aromatic dishes and eclectic atmosphere, or try this Samosas with Tamarind Chutney.

We can’t talk about vegan eateries in the Hudson Valley without mentioning a chocolate shop that will make satisfy all of your dessert cravings. Lagusta’s Luscious, created by the same brilliant chef who runs The Commissary, is your one-stop shop for all things rich and decadent. To give you an idea of the magic that is being crafted here, some of their desserts include Fig and Caramelized Fennel Semi-sweet Chocolate Bark, Rosemary Sea Salt Caramels, an Earl Grey and Preserved Orange Bar, Tahini-filled Chocolates, and Strawberry Balsamic Caramels. Not only are these chocolates absolutely gorgeous and crafted with love, but the flavor profiles are astounding. If you cannot make it to Lagusta’s Luscious, you can order a selection of their chocolates online, or try this Raw Tahini Caramel Candies, or this Superfood Cacao Bark.

8. Caribreeze

Caribreeze, a completely vegan restaurant located in Spring Valley, New York specializes in crafting delicious, flavorful food inspired by Jamaican, Ital, and Caribbean cuisines. Their menu includes dishes such as Spicy Jerk Seitan, Curry Tofu, Boiled Plantains, Shitake Mushroom Stew, Seitan in a Coconut Sauce, and Tamarind Balls. Be sure to check out this joint when traveling to the Hudson Valley, or try this Grilled Jerk Tofu with Pineapple Salsa.

The Red Dot with a motto, “love is served here,” is a vegetarian/vegan restaurant in Wurtsboro, New York specializing in a wide range of cuisines. The amazing thing about this restaurant is that their menu is highly customizable, and almost every dish can be made vegan. Some of these dishes include Vegetable Pakoras with a sweet chili sauce, a Vegan Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato, and Avocado Sandwich, Lentil Dal, and Protein Burritos. They even serve breakfast and can make alterations to their pancakes and waffles so that they are suitable for vegans! There is truly something for everyone at this restaurant, but if eating at home is your thing, feel free to try this Simple Lentil Dal, or this Cauliflower Pakoras.

10. The Daily Beet 

3-Minute Acai Bowl/One Green Planet

The Daily Beet located in Newburgh, New York specializes in blending up revitalizing juices and smoothies while supporting local Hudson Valley farms. Some of their menu items include a Red Velvet Smoothie, a Green Hornet Smoothie with matcha powder and pumpkin butter, Turmeric and Ginger Shots, and a Screamin’ Green Juice.
