Product Review: Wholesome Chow Baking Mix

Product Review + Giveaway: Wholesome Chow Baking Mix

Product: Wholesome Chow

Flavors Reviewed: Vanilla, Chocolate, Chocolate Lavender, Lavender, Chai Spice and the All-Purpose Baking Mix. We also reviewed the Vanilla Frosting.

About Wholesome Chow: Wholesome Chow offers the world’s only Certified Organic, Non-GMO, Gluten Free and Vegan Baking Mixes in decadent and exotic flavors such as Lavender Cake Mix, Chai Spice Cake Mix, and the always-popular All-Purpose Flour Baking Mix. Easy to prepare, just add Non-Dairy Milk and Oil. Mix, Bake and Serve! Absolutely no eggs or dairy required.

Wholesome Chow is a family owned business based on the belief that all beings should be well fed. Co-Founders Veronica Rains and Jeffrey Bailey created Wholesome Chow in 2010. Find their products in over 500 retail locations in the US (including Whole Foods Market!) and online at www.WholesomeChow.com.

The One Green Planet Verdict: It’s hard to believe these mixes are gluten-free and vegan! When we first pulled our baked goods out of the oven and bit into them, our mouths were greeted with a moist, fluffy cake that stands up next to some great traditional cake mixes out there! Here’s the skinny on all seven mixes:

With an excellent texture and traditional flavor, the vanilla and chocolate mixes are sure to be crowd favorites. The chai spice mix is slightly more exotic, with an awesome, sweet and spicy flavor. We loved it!

The lavender mix has a strong but refreshing lavender flavor, while the chocolate lavender mix has equal notes of both flavors. If you like a sweet pairing, the vanilla frosting works well on any of the cake mixes. Sliced fruit also makes a delicious topping.

We tried the all-purpose baking mix in a banana chocolate chip muffin recipe with excellent results! The end result was soft, fluffy, and delicious, and unlike many other gluten-free mixes, it rose perfectly! This mix would also be great for pancakes, waffles, and other baking needs.

Winning Wholesome Chow in All-Purpose Baking Mix flavor is the baking product my kitchen needs because I am going vegan and my daughter is going on the gf/cf autism diet. We shouldn't have to suffer with awful tasting baked goods (especially my husband).
