About the Book: Author and holistic health practitioner Victoria Moran started eating a plant-based diet nearly thirty years ago, raised her daughter, Adair, vegan from birth, and now maintains a sixty-pound weight loss. In Main Street Vegan, Moran offers a complete guide to making this dietary and lifestyle shift with an emphasis on practical “baby steps,” proving that you don’t have to have a personal chef or lifestyle coach on speed dial to experience the physical and spiritual benefits of being a vegan. This book provides practical advice and inspiration for everyone—from Main Street to Wall Street, and everywhere between.

About the Author: Victoria Moran is the author of 11 books, and is also an inspirational speaker, monologist, and certified holistic health counselor (HHC, AADP). She is the founder of Main Street Vegan Academy, training vegan lifestyle coaches. Victoria’s latest book, Main Street Vegan, is written with the assistance of her daughter, Adair, an actor, playwright, stunt performer, and lifelong vegan. Victoria’s other titles are the best-selling Creating a Charmed Life (in thirty languages), and the plant-based weight-loss classic, The Love-Powered Diet: Eating for Freedom, Health, & Joy.

The One Green Planet Verdict: Main Street Vegan provides practical tips and advice for anyone who has ever considered going vegan. Our favorite things about this book:

  1. Content – This book is packed with useful information! Most importantly, Moran takes the time to address a number of the most common questions and concerns new (or potential) vegans face. Getting enough protein, keeping costs down, dietary supplements, restaurants, cookouts, raising children, and other relationship considerations. They seem to have thought of everything!
  2. Format – The book conveys a wealth of information via short chapters that are easy to digest and fun to read.
  3. Tone – Honest, relatable, and even inspiring at times; never pretentious or preachy.
  4. Extras – The recipes interspersed throughout the text are a nice touch. From salad to dessert, there’s something for everyone in these selections.

I became vegan while living in West Texas where the words meat-free were only used when discussing chili. Armed with a very sketchy produce section at my local grocery store and one health foods store that sold mainly gluten-free cookies I was able to make my way. Now I live in the beautiful Pacific Northwest where the word vegan is common-place. But I am still trying to find my way while educating others. I think this book would be the perfect go-to guide for someone like me.

    HI,
As a Indian who is a converted vegetarian,I find veganism a big challenge.I converted to a vegetarian due to multiple reasons but as i have been slowly realising for the past few years, being a vegetarian is very good for the environment, health and also it gives you a chance to step out of your comfort zone so very often. But i have never understood being Vegan.I have 2 kids and milk and milk products are a daily staple for them.Wouldnt being Vegan deprive them of soo many nutrients we may be missing..Would this book explain anything about the health benefits of veganism ?

I’ve been vegan for 4 years and over that time, have read an endless number of books, as I can never read enough and feel that every single book brings something new and important to my life. One of the greatest joys for me has been helping a bunch of others, as they’ve approached me, to make the transition. What enables me to do this, I believe, *is* the amount of knowledge I’ve gained from books. I’ve been building my vegan and healthy eating library over time and often lend out those books to those wanting to learn more. So, I would love to read Main Street Vegan to continue my own education and to have it as a resource to help others. Thank you for this opportunity.

I’m about to reach my second year of being vegan and could use more practical direction and advice. I don’t eat junk food and a lot of the benifits I hear of other vegans experiencing like weight loss, better skin and increase in energy have not happened in my case.

  7. avatar Jennifer says:

To help with all the vegan things that aren’t so obvious.

  8. avatar johnbryant says:

My in-laws have been vegan for the past three years. I’ve learned a lot from them and became a vegetarian last year in part because of their example. I’d like to learn more about making the full move to vegan without having to rely solely on their experience. This books sounds like a great way to learn and get some simple ideas to make the transition.

  9. avatar Renata says:

I’m new to the vegan scene so I definitely need all the help and advice I can get! This book sounds very informative in helpful in assisting me on my new journey in dietary cuisine. I’d love to learn Main Street Vegan’s Tip & Tricks in the kitchen to inspire me with a new diet and culinary selections! Then I shall be a full-fledged “Main Street Veganista!” :-)

I would love to have a copy of this book! I just recently started changing my eating habits in February after watching a couple documentaries and have felt great ever since. I’m currently doing no beef or pork and would love a helpful guide to go straight into being a healthy vegan. I have a son that is 6 and could definetly use all the help I could get getting us both into a healthier better vegan life! I love the idea of the book and can’t wait to read it!

  11. avatar Georgiana says:

I’m a “Main Street” gal living on “Main Street” USA and just became a “Main Street Vegan” by following a meat-free lifestyle! This “Main Street” gal needs all the Vegan help she can get in converting and transforming her traditional cooking methods to a pure “MAIN STREET VEGAN!” :-)

  12. avatar Kaitlyn says:

I really want to give this book to my sister. She’s a new vegan and I want to build up her arsenal of resources!

  13. avatar Quentin Harris says:

I am a new father, my little girl will be 2 in September. I was raised to eat whatever and whenever. When I became a young adult, I decided to take control of what I ate and how it was cooked. Now that I am older (38) and more conscious, I am ready to go to the next level and also raise my daughter with different eating, cooking, and grocery shopping habits than what I had and sometimes still practice. When I go to Whole Foods Supermarket, I see a lot of things that I like but I am unable to afford it on a consistent basis. Maybe this book can help me go to the next level in healthy eating and help me to be a better leader in my family when it comes to what we buy, cook, and eat.

  14. avatar Rachel Beaudet says:

I am in need of some inspiration to keep up this lifestyle. I began my journey on May 16th,2011 at 75 years old. I did pretty well until lately. I have been feeling deprived and really don’t want to go back to eating meat and dairy, but I need some new ideas and I am sure this book would be a big help to me.

  15. avatar Jenn Fogell says:

I keep trying to go vegan but fall off because I cannot get the knack of it… I think this book may be just what I need to get the knack!
