Diwali, also known as the “Festival of Lights,” is one of the biggest Hindu festivals of the year. The five-day celebration honors Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth. Small earthenware oil lamps are lined outside homes and  windows and doors are left open for Lakshmi, so she may find her way into the homes of those who celebrate. Others celebrate the festival in honor of  Rama and Sita in the story of Ramayana, which shows that good always wins over evil.
