When we first learned about Renee King-Sonnen’s mission to convert her husband’s fourth-generation cattle ranch into a farm animal sanctuary, we were amazed to say the least. After moving to live on her husband’s family’s ranch, Renee developed strong bonds with the cows who lived there and when the time would come to send the calves to slaughter, she was absolutely devastated.

Renee spent years suffering alongside the mourning mother cows over the loss of their children and then one decided she was done. She gave her husband an ultimatum and told him he could either keep the ranch or keep her. Reaching a compromise, Renee’s husband agreed to retire from the ranching business and convert the land to a sanctuary if she could raise the funds to buy all the cattle in his care.

With the help of social media and her steely conviction, Renee managed to raise the $30,000 needed to buy the cows in under four months!

We could not be more thrilled to announce that Rowdy Girl Sanctuary is up and running – and in another awesome turn, Renee’s husband has also decided to go vegan! Together, the Sonnen’s are completely embracing a compassionate lifestyle and showing the world that anyone can make a positive change in their life.

The sanctuary is already home to 16 thriving farm animals and Renee has big plans to expand and take in even more animals soon.

Deborah Islas got me worried here now. If this woman\'s motives are not pure, the animals on that farm are in trouble. Please would anyone advise what is Zurvita? Would anyone with investigation skills please investigate the matter so that everyone can be warned.

Please One Green Planet, and anyone else thinking this woman did a good thing here, dig a little deeper. She raised $30,000 to give to her husband so that her cows could live on the same land they already lived on, with her husband. This woman and her husband have a long history of money making schemes. Do a little research and see how before they found the vegan community they were pushing their Zurvita business. Never heard of Zurvita? Nor had I. Look them up and look how this couple pushed that multi level marketing scheme. These people are and have been clearly motivated by money only. They found a deep well in the compassionate vegan community.

Why would you glorify this person? Did you do any fact checking? Her husband is a hunter and they are friends with hunters. She basically scammed people into paying her no to not kill her own cows. There are plenty of real (vetted) sanctuaries that need donation money. Why should you pay someone to not kill their own animals....I don\'t get it. Would it really have been so hard to not kill them without our money?

I was also thinking: Why did they not just keep the cows? And change their way of life? They raised an awful amount of money.

Wow, what a wonderful story. Thank goodness for strong people like Renee. This is even more proof that we can become a compassionate world. Some people just need a little more positive influence than others to see the light :)
