Dogs are humans’ best friends, and when dogs suffer, their loving caretakers suffer too. When this happens, animal lovers will go to great lengths to help their beloved animal companions, and a woman from London is doing just that.
Dolly-Ann Osterloh’s dog Snoopy is a rescued Yorkie-Chi from New Jersey who made it across the pond to live with Osterloh in her flat in Central London. Sadly, Snoopy has been diagnosed with Mitral Valve Disease, a condition common in small dogs that affects the heart and results in a shortened lifespan. Snoopy has only been given a few months to live, and his only hope for survival is a costly surgery that will amount to over $12,000.
Here is Snoopy with the medications he has to take for his condition.
Osterloh states, “I have done everything to raise the money. I took a bank loan, I scraped all my life-savings, I am running a Gofundme campaign and asked family for help. My partner even created a video game to raise further awareness. Right now I am £9,000 short of my goal and if I don’t raise the money before Sept 18 then he won’t get his surgery slot.”
In order to raise the funds for Snoopy’s surgery, Osterloh is doing something entirely selfless – she is selling everything she owns to save her dog’s life. From clothing to furniture, she is willing to sell anything in her home except for Snoopy of course. On September 8th, she will be live-streaming the sale here, where people from anywhere in the world can participate.
