Melissa Hatheier, the hero of a shark-centered video that has recently gone viral, seemed to know exactly what to do when she got face to face with a wild marine animal – and it looked like she did it with little to no effort, as well. The woman, a 50-year-old real-estate agent, casually lifted a shark out of the water and put it on the other side of the sea-adjoining pool at the Oak Park Rock Pool in the beachside suburb Cronulla in Sydney.
Hatheier was told about the shark by her mother who had noticed a fin in the water. The brave woman said that her family did not know what to do with the animal, India.com reports, but she thought she could just grab it. And so she did exactly that – picked up the shark “like a toddler” and threw it back in the safety of the sea.
The animal is believed to have been a Port Jackson shark. As Hatheier told local news, she suspected that the animal had been stranded in the pool during a high tide. The shark also appeared to be in distress – fortunately, thanks to the woman’s amazing help, the animal is now back where it belongs.
Remember, if you ever come across a marine animal in distress, it’s best to contact a professional before taking action. Here is a list of some that could help.
