This excellent new educational video by Greenovate.org takes a closer look at our food and where it comes from, with the goal of informing how we can choose three meals a day that can sustain our health and our planet.
The video does a great job of covering our current industrialized food production system and it’s negative impact on our health, the planet and society in general. It touches upon our reliance on corn and GMOs, our neglect of the health of our soils, as well as marketing foods like french fries, sugary chocolates, ice cream and candy based on psychology, cravings and emotional needs, instead of nutritional value.
It’s refreshing to see that the video is not afraid to tackle the issue of eating meat, and covers the results of the China Study. As the video points out, as traditional diets in developing countries get replaced with diets full of sugar and meat, their rates of diabetes are projected to double in the next two decades. Moreover, meat eating not only negatively impacts our health, but also impacts the lives of animals and the planet.
As this video rightful points out, we as consumers have a responsibility towards our bodies and our health, to learn more about the food we put into our systems, rather than settle for convenience.
