A new episode of ABC’s’ “What Would You Do?” show (scheduled to air on Friday, February 10, 2012) features a segment involving a vegan family dining in a New Jersey barbeque restaurant. The segment depicts actors playing roles in a scenario where a couple forces a hot dog on a young girl, whose mother had clearly said that the family does not eat meat, dairy or animal by-products.
“Everyone eats hamburgers, it’s un-American not to eat meat,” says the man (an actor), urging the girl to enjoy the hot dog, as other diners (not actors) stare in amazement at the drama unfolding.
In an article promoting the segment, ABC news interestingly points out that some worry that a meat-and-dairy-free diet could be dangerous for children and then goes on to describe why that’s a myth (quoting information provided by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics).
Big props to ABC News for tackling this issue on prime-time TV!
THE TIMES THEY ARE [INDEED!] A-CHANGIN’!
Check out a clip of the segment below (It airs on Friday at 9 p.m. ET) and tell us how you would react if you were at that diner.
