The marine conservation organization Sea Shepherd has opened a tattoo studio in Amsterdam, Netherlands! The studio is offering tattoos that are completely vegan – that is, they do not use ink that contains any animal products. The idea came from Geert Vons, Artistic Director of Sea Shepherd Global and creator of the organization’s well-known Jolly Roger logo.

The studio was created with the idea of opening a special place offering “official Sea Shepherd tattoos” from Vons himself. All proceeds go directly to Sea Shepherd and the organization’s actions for the environment.

“Sea Shepherd Tattoo is a creative way to raise funds for Sea Shepherd with all proceeds going to the campaigns,” states the project’s website.

To make the dream of opening the studio reality, Sea Shepherd got help arranging all the tattoo equipment and found several sponsors supporting the group’s mission.

Vons’s passion for marine life, especially whales, dolphins, and turtles, is an important driving force behind his artworks. “Through his work, Geert seeks to focus attention upon the marine environment.”

The studio is open and ready to welcome those willing to decorate their bodies with beautiful and carefully designed pieces – you can get your ocean-themed tattoo there by making a reservation!
