Kristin Bauer’s mean vampire character (Pam) in True Blood couldn’t be more unlike her true warm, animal-loving nature. Kristin is a passionate animal rights activist and has teamed up with the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM) to launch a petition, urging U.S. officials to take a stand against animal cruelty and put an end to chimpanzee experiments.

In a letter to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, she wrote, “Chimpanzees have been recognized as an endangered species by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service since 1990, but only wild chimpanzees are protected under the Endangered Species Act. Captive chimpanzees in the U.S. used in  painful experiments, entertainment and kept as pets don’t get any of the protections given to chimpanzees in the wild.”

Kristin is encouraging fans to join in the effort by signing and sharing her petition, as well as submitting comments to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
