A group of kids recently spotted a homeless Pit Bull having a horrible seizure in the middle of the street in Los Angeles. One of the kids immediately grabbed his phone, filmed the dog having the seizure as he was trying to calm the dog down and then texted the video to Eldad Hagar, the founder of Hope for Paws, a non-profit organization that rescues stray dogs and cats.

Even though Hagar’s sister had just flown into town, he rushed to the scene. Hagar knew to approach the dog, now named Captain, slowly so he wouldn’t startle him. He successfully secured him on his leash and Captain must have known then that he was in safe hands because he came over for a hug.

The heartwarming moment was captured on camera. You can tell Captain knows he is safe and will now get the help he needs.

In the car on the way back to the Hope for Paws animal hospital, Captain wagged his tail for a second and then slept the whole way. Sadly, at the hospital Captains, health problems came to light. He had complete kidney failure, as well as heart failure, and shortly after arriving at the hospital, he passed away. Thanks to the swift action of a group of kids, Captain was able to peacefully pass away on a comfortable bed, surrounded by people who cared for him.

You never know when an animal might need your help. Consider keeping an animal rescue kit in your car at all times. This can include such items as a leash, crate, food and water, treats, a warm blanket, and a pet first aid kit. Always call the authorities when in doubt on how to proceed. Despite Michelle Nief\'s negativity (why are you even here?) i think it is a wonderful story Those kids did the right and caring thing and thanks to the Captain did not die alone and sometimes that is the most you can ask for. Hie time of receiving that love was short but how much better than the alternative. i would be surprise if Eldad did not take the time to help no matter what he was doing. i agree that is quite remarkable along with his team.
As for you michelle, please do not feel the need to share your bad attitude with us again.

No animal should have to know sickness, loneliness, hopelessness, fear, pain, or hate...unfortunately we do not live in a world where this is possible. However, when an animal knows the love we as a society are capable of giving, if only for a small moment in their lives, then the world is right for them. Thank you to the compassion & quick thinking of Captain\'s rescuers, he knew love at a moment when he really needed it. R.I.P. Captain... you are pain free & healthy now... & forever loved! Thank you Hagar & Hope for Paws for all your love & dedication to the innocent suffering animals. <3

Also, let\'s please give kudos to the group of boys who had the compassion and presence of mind to make the emergency call to Eldad in the first place. If not for them, Eldad would never have known of this lost soul\'s plight and had the chance for Captain to experience love in his declining hours. Bravo young men, bravo!!!

Eldad Hager (Hope for Paws) is one of the best rescue groups in the country (in my opinion). You can see the love and dedication Eldad for the animals. His sister is visiting, but he STILL rushes to the scene to see what he can do to help. Although the story ends sadly, at least Captain got to experience love and companionship (maybe the first he\'s EVER experienced) before he left for the Rainbow Bridge. All your hardships are over now, Captain. You can rest and be out of pain forever. Thank you Eldad for your services to so many animals that need help.

while i deeply appreciate a heart warming story with a decent ending, i am disturbed by the "writer\'s license" in it that describes the dog\'s "wagging it\'s tail", when the photos accompanying the article clearly show that the dog\'s tail has been docked behind finding. he may have wagged his butt, but the real "tale behind the tail" does not exist.

i take it all back. re-examination of the picture shows a tail, hanging off to one side. mea culpa. mea mega culpa/
