Seattle Tops GrubHub's List of Veg-Friendly Cities

Which city do you think is the most vegetarian-friendly in the nation? How would you go about compiling such a list?

To develop the veg-friendly ranking, analysts from GrubHub, the nation’s leading food ordering service, reviewed over 15,000 restaurants with online ordering available via the web or mobile apps.

They used the number of restaurants per capita that self-identify as vegetarian-friendly to come up with a list of the top ten vegetarian-friendly cities in the United States. While we’d like to see a more comprehensive analysis, it’s a good start and an interesting list.

Unsurprisingly, California cities claimed four of the top 10 spots. The real shocker (for many) was Texas, claiming three spots on the podium.

Here’s the top 10:

  1. Seattle, WA
  2. San Jose, CA
  3. San Diego, CA
  4. Houston, TX
  5. Dallas, TX
  6. Austin, TX
  7. San Francisco, CA
  8. Los Angeles, CA
  9. Denver, CO
  10. Chicago, IL

Asheville, NC deserves consideration on this list. It’s definitely a vegetarian’s playground.

  2. How could we get Florida to be more veg-friendly?
