Ben the Pit Bull is at risk of being euthanized. The young pup is currently being held in the medical ward of Miami-Dade Animal Services due to an injured leg. Sadly, because of breed-specific legislation in Miami-Dade County, Florida, Pit Bulls cannot be adopted to families who live within its lines. This means Ben’s only hope of making it out of the shelter is finding a forever family or foster who in another county. Because he is being held in the medical ward, Ben cannot be seen by potential adopters or fosters and his chances of being saved are even lower.
Ben’s caretakers hope that sharing his photo on social media will get him adopted in time. His photographer said that the young dog is “calm and very friendly.”
Any family would be lucky to adopt Ben – just look at those sweet eyes!
Unless Ben finds a forever family or a foster home, he is at risk of being euthanized — all because of unjust breed specific legislation and the fact he was born a Pit Bull.
To foster or adopt Ben, contact Miami-Dade Animal Services. He is currently being held in ward B/C and his ID# is ID#A1758940. You can contact the shelter via their phone number, 305-884-1101, through their adoption email, [email protected], or through their foster email, [email protected] Shelter hours are Monday through Friday from 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM, and Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
Because he is being held in the medical ward, away from potential forever families, the best way to help Ben get adopted is to make his story known. Share this story to help this sweet Pit Bull have a fair chance at finding the family that he deserves.
