Many members of the star-studded McCartney family have long been major advocates for animal rights, and their vast influence has led many to ditch meat, dairy, fur, leather, and other animal-derived products from their lives. A revered icon for both younger and older generations, Sir Paul McCartney’s voice is readily associated with messages of peace, love, and togetherness, and he has now lent his voice to an inspiring new short film encouraging people to protect our precious earth by omitting meat from their lives, starting with an easily attainable goal of just one day a week.

Narrated by Paul McCartney and directed by French director Yann Arthus-Bertrand, the film showcases Arthus-Bertrand’s signature aerial footage that features stunning glimpses of the beautiful “delicate balance” of Mother Earth’s incredible biodiversity. The short film tackles an issue related to climate change, the degradation of our earth, and the extinction of species that most media outlets find too taboo to touch upon — animal agriculture.

By encouraging people to leave meat off their plates starting at just one day a week, this film is hoped to inspire people from all generations to make conscious decisions to protect our planet and all the irreplaceable plants and animals who call it home.

The film also features Mary and Stella McCartney, Woody Harrelson, and Emma Stone, and the soundtrack was composed by Paul McCartney. To learn more about the film and the campaign, visit the Meat Free Monday site here.

Growing crops to eat, is much more energy efficient, much more land efficient and much less harmful to the environment, than growing to feed animals - which we then eat. Non-meateaters also tend to live longer and be more healthy.
