The International Animal Rescue team was recently contacted to save an orangutan kept in chains for most of her life. The orangutan, named Amy by the rescuers, was held captive in a small wooden crate for about seven years. Closed off in this small space, she was without a companion and comfort, spending her days completely alone.
It is incredibly difficult to watch this heartbreaking image of what people are capable of doing to innocent animals, destroying their health and breaking their spirits. The years spent in such unbelievable conditions have left their painful marks on Amy’s body. The tight chain around her neck caused a deep wound. Her back is bent, she is unable to straighten her legs, and has scars on her hips.
Thankfully, the orangutan was freed and rushed to the rescue center where she is receiving the necessary treatment from the veterinary team. The situation is pressing – and the rescue team saving Amy’s life needs help. Please visit the International Animal Rescue’s website to make a donation and help them give Amy a better life.
