NFL Fullback Goes Vegan

Tony Fiammetta, who plays for the Dallas Cowboys is 6 feet tall and 242 pounds — the perfect height and weight to play fullback in the National Football League. However, when it comes to what’s on his plate, Fiammetta differs greatly from all the other NFL fullbacks — he’s eats a strictly plant-based diet.

“I got into it over the summer,” Fiammetta told ESPN. “I just started reading some books and changed my mind about that part of my life.”

“I’ve actually felt better on the field and off the field but it was an instant change of being a meat eater all the time to not eating it. I’d done it my whole life and then to have it taken away that first week was hard. Now I’m fine.”

Fiammetta is not the only vegan in the NFL. Tony Gonzalez, tight end for the Atlanta Falcons also follows a plant-based diet.
