If you’re cast to play a notorious role, played by three other actors before you that went on to receive Oscars and Golden Globes for their takes on the character, what do you do to set yourself apart? How do you make the role your own and delight moviegoers with a new take? If you’re Jared Leto and the role in question is the notorious Joker character for the new movie Suicide Squad, you start by bulking up until no one would dare question your decision making process when choosing nuclear green for a hair color. Also, if you’re Jared Leto, you do that with vegan tacos.
No man, it’s cool, we weren’t looking at your hair or your teeth or that one Michael Jackson-esque surgical glove thing you’ve got going on. You do you, boo boo. Please, don’t hurt us.
The actor told Billboard magazine in an interview, “I’m trying to gain a lot of weight. It means I have to eat every couple of hours – and I’m terrible at eating a lot,” as he then plowed into a plate of the delightfully plant-filled, tortilla shell centric offerings of awesome. Truly have you ever had vegan tacos? You can fill those bad boys with damn near any wonderful thing you want. (Like these, or these, or oh, oh, these are good. Hey, did you see these? Mmmmmmmm, we love these.)
It appears to be working like a charm too, if this photo the actor recently posted to his Instagram of his progress is any indication. We don’t know about you guys, but Batman should definitely be worried. Maybe the Dark Knight himself should toss back a couple vegan tacos. Hey Mr. Wayne! Try these!
Looks like a Chipotle run might be in order…
To see that a plant-based plan of action when it comes to putting on lean muscle mass and impressive bulk works is refreshing, considering that misconceptions still abound about the vegan diet’s ability to provide results. While plant-based athletes are numerous and routinely compete at the highest levels in their chosen fields, people still question the lifestyle’s ability to perform at the same level as an animal centric one.
With the recent decision by Samuel L. Jackson to suspend his plant-based eating habits over pressure from a movie studio to bulk up the animal protein way for his role in “Tarzan,” it’s refreshing to see Jared Leto once again busting stereotypes. He also looks like he could bust some heads too, seriously, he could pop cans of spinach like Popeye with those arms at this point.
“I hears vegan tacos can make me muscles grow. I’ll takes some spinach ones.”
We can’t wait to see how everything comes together for this movie! In the meantime, if you need any help mixing things up Mr. Leto, here’s a week’s worth of meal ideas for bodybuilding on a vegan diet. We also have a whole page dedicated to vegan tacos for your perusal too. Powering up heros and villains alike. It’s what we do.
