You read that right: it’s time to break up with bacon. It might not be easy, and we totally get why. Bacon has probably been there for you for your entire life. From its smoky, sizzling fragrance being the thing that gets you out of bed in the morning to providing comfort when you were feeling down. But here’s the thing: you might love bacon, but bacon sure as heck doesn’t love you back. You’ve tried to deny the facts because breaking up is never easy, but according to a report by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), bacon miiiiight be a wee bit carcinogenic. Yikes — and if you ask us, you deserve better than that.

We know you’re probably asking yourself, “If I leave bacon, what will I have?” Meet Coconut Bacon. *swoon*

coconut bacon

Coconut bacon is crisp. Coconut bacon is smoky. Coconut bacon will never let you down. You can sprinkle it on salad like delicious little bacon bits, mix it with some greens and tomato for a BLT-inspired wrap, or just snack on it whenever you need your bacon fix. Or how about make some dairy-free, meat-free Bacon Mac and Cheese Empanadas or Twice-Baked Potato Bites With Coconut Bacon? We’re in love.

And did we mention that coconut bacon is ridiculously easy to make? Literally, all you do is mix together flaked coconut, liquid smoke (more like smoky liquid magic, are we right?), soy sauce, smoked paprika, and water, then let your oven do the rest. That’s right. Coconut bacon also significantly reduces your risk of getting burned by hot oil. Can’t argue with that.

It’s time to do what’s right for you. Ditch bacon and get together with coconut bacon. Click here to learn how — and if coconut bacon doesn’t give you what you want, can we interest you in some other delicious, plant-based bacon options? (We’re looking at you, Portobello Bacon!) And if you’re really looking to step up your plant-based meal game, we highly recommend checking out the Food Monster App, available for both Android and iPhone. With over 8,000 vegan recipes (with over 10 new recipes added daily), there’s something for everyone. Give it a try!
