Happy dance! Food technology company, Impossible Foods, makers of the Impossible Burger, a plant-based “beef” patty that cooks, smells, tastes, and even “bleeds” like real meat just introduced … TACOS! Aptly named the Impossible Taco, Impossible Foods has teamed up with Chicago restaurant, Tallboy Taco to create the second generation of “Impossible” food items.
The 100 percent vegan Impossible Taco comes in a house-made hard shell, with shredded lettuce, pico de gallo and salsa árbol. The tacos run at $12 for a pair but if you’re in the Windy City, go NOW because they will only be available for a limited time!
The Impossible Taco marks the first use of Impossible’s plant-based meat for non-burger uses. But if you’re not in Chicago, don’t worry. Considering the immense popularity the Impossible Burger has seen, it’s safe to say this won’t be the last time we see new food items from the company (vegan seafood may be next!).
Tallboy Taco’s partnership with Impossible Foods is a smart move considering more people than ever are reducing their meat consumption and opting for plant-based options instead. When dining out, around 40 percent of Americans also choose the plant-based option, so the Impossible Tacos will likely be met with huge success.
