Florida Urgent Rescue has taken in a dog who was struggling to survive in the woods of rural St. Johns County, Florida after suffering a grave injury. The dog, Sami, is believed to have been dumped by a hunter and possibly thrown from a vehicle. Her caretakers estimate that she was living on her own for several months before she was found by a kind person who brought her to the rescue. Now, Sami is finally getting the help she needs and is fighting to stay alive.

Sami’s condition was horrific. She was emaciated and her body was covered in bleeding wounds …

She began intensive treatment at Saint Francis Animal Hospital that included time in a Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy chamber. Slowly, her skin began to improve thanks to the therapy and she began to walk a little better.

Since the beginning of her recovery, Sami has made good progress. According to her dedicated carers, she is now getting better with each day.

Sami has a long way to go still, but her loving foster parent and the rescue team are doing everything to heal her and give her a second chance at a life.

Click here to sign a petition urging the authorities of St. Johns County to find the person responsible for abandoning and abusing Sami and make them face the law.

You can help Sami by donating to her medical care via the hospital’s website, its Facebook page, or by calling the office at 904-674-7223.

I live in rural Georgia. I\'ve rescued a number of animals that have been dumped out here. Boy, would I like to catch the people who do it; they\'d get four flat tires and a hole in their radiator (all us country boys have guns, after all) and then THEY\'D be dumped. Have a nice walk back to civilization, ya bastards. Hope Sami does well, and finds a permanent home. Yes, I signed the petition. Wish I could contribute, but with $14 to last until next month, I can\'t. Sorry.

I have just donated to support Sami\'s care and recovery. I am so sorry to hear how she was treated and can\'t imagine how traumatized she must have felt the past couple of months...God bless St. Francis Animal Hospital and the good people there.
