Here’s a good reason to never blindly believe any research study, just because it appears to have been conducted by a legitimate university.
Last month, Researchers at McMaster University in Canada found that milk is best when it comes to re-hydrating active children. Yes, milk (i.e. cow’s milk), not water, not a sports drink or any other possible liquid that can be found on the planet.
“Children become dehydrated during exercise, and it’s important they get enough fluids, particularly before going into a second round of a game. Milk is better than either a sports drink or water because it is a source of high quality protein, carbohydrates, calcium and electrolytes,” said Brian Timmons, research director of the Child Health and Exercise Medicine Program at McMaster and principal investigator of the study.
This has to be a joke, right? Well, sort of. It should probably come as no surprise that the study was funded by the Dairy Farmers of Canada. It’s obviously nothing more than an attempt to combat the growing popularity of sports drinks and has absolutely nothing to do with scientific truth.
Not only is milk harmful for your health and the animals involved, but stunts like this prove that the dairy industry is just pure evil.
