The above video features a bat who was found drowning in a swimming pool. He was so exhausted from the ordeal that he slept for 48 hours straight and woke up famished. They feared he may have water in his lungs, but luckily, he has been recovering beautifully and is already enjoying his time in the flight aviary with the other rescued bats.
You can follow the Batzilla the Bat Facebook page to stay updated on all their amazing bat rescue stories. You should never approach a wild bat on your own, however, as they can carry deadly viruses like rabies, and Wade had to undergo vaccinations before she was able to handle wild bats. As Wade points out, a bat who is seen in the daytime is a bat in need, so please contact a local animal rescue if you happen to see one.
Don’t forget to share this uplifting story and show people the sweet side of bats!
