Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge recently took in a sweet dog who was thrown out of a car window and miraculously saved. After the incident, which happened on the Bronx River Parkway, the dog was rescued by the kind firefighters from FDNY Engine 63, Ladder 39, and Battalion 15. Having saved the pup, they did not want to send the animal to the shelter without much needed medical care, so they reached out to the rescue to give the dog a chance at a proper recovery.
The injured and bleeding dog was quickly transported to Oradell Animal Animal Hospital where rescue staff awaited the pup’s arrival.
The dog was found to have painful lacerations under his fur, rotten teeth, a heart murmur, and overgrown and curled nails … The poor animal’s fur was so matted and filthy that it cannot be even said yet if the pup is a girl or a boy. The fur will have to be delicately shaved for a full examination.
But the little one already has a new name – Sydney. Throughout the examination, Sydney was calm and affectionate, enjoying the cuddles from caretakers – despite all that has happened.
It is heart-breaking to see how scared and suffering Sydney is after the abuse. Unable to move much because of the pain, shaking out of fear, the dog “has no idea that he or she is about to get love and care for the first time”…
The rescue is calling for donations to save sweet Sydney’s life and is also seeking information about the person responsible for what happened to Sydney. They ask to please contact the shelter with any information in the case.
